Registering as a resident
When you move permanently to Finland, you need to register as a resident of a municipality. You can register as a resident of Kirkkonummi at the Digital and Population Data Services Agency in Helsinki.

When you go to the Digital and Population Data Services Agency, take with you your
- identity card (such as a passport)
- residence permit and residence card if you need a residence permit in Finland
- certificate of registration of the right of residence if you are a citizen of an EU country
- marriage certificate
- children’s birth certificates
Remember that the documents must be approved by the authorities and translated into Finnish, Swedish or English.
Notification of move
Whenever you move permanently to a new residence in Finland or when your temporary stay in a residence lasts for more than three months, you must submit a notification of move. If you are already domiciled in Finland, you can submit a notification of move using a form available at the post office and on the Internet.
You can submit a notification of move online at www.muuttoilmoitus.fi using your online banking codes, identity card or a Posti user ID. You can also submit a notification of move using a paper form, which you can pick up from the post office.
You can use the same notification to report family members who are moving with you.
Residence permits
You can apply for a residence permit and registration of an EU citizen’s right of residence at a service point of the Finnish Immigration Service in Helsinki.
